Katerina Javurkovà

Katerina started playing the French horn aged nine with Tomáš Krejbich in the Prague music school Na Popelce. She continued at the Prague Conservatory with Professor BedÅ™ich Tylšar and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with ZdenÄ›k Divoký and Radek Baborák. She also completed a study stay at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique et Danse Paris with Professor André Cazalet. She won a number of interpretation competitions but values most the 1st prize at the Prague Spring International Competition 2013 and the 2nd prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (Germany). She was awarded the Talent of the Year 2016 at the Classic Prague Awards and became the first laureate of JiÅ™í BÄ›lohlávek Award in 2019.  Before joining the Czech Philharmonic, she played in PKF – Prague Philharmonia. As a soloist, she has appeared with the Czech Philharmonic, PKF – Prague Philharmonia, Münchener Kammerorchester, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and NOSPR Katowice with which she played the Prague premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Concerto for French Horn. Chamber music is an important part of her life. She regularly collaborates with Radek Baborák, the Panocha Quartet, Altenberg Trio and is often invited to chamber festivals abroad. She has been a member of Belfiato Quintet for many years.
